My name is Alison and I live in Vancouver, BC, Canada. I'm a lawyer by profession but in my spare time, I find myself preoccupied with my other "passions" in life: makeup, shopping, and food.
As someone who has been obsessed with fashion since I was little and with the Internet since before blogging was even a "thing," my transition to fashion & beauty blogging occurred very naturally. I ran an online teen magazine from 1998-2000, started online journalling in 2001, and have been a member of numerous online communities for years. (P.S. I am totally down for discussing the old school Internet culture of the late 90s/early 2000s if you were part of it too!)
After taking a break from sharing my life online, I founded alison*elle in 2010 as a creative escape from the academic rigours of law school and because, let's be honest, I couldn't stay off the Internet forever. I was following a number of blogs by that time and wanted to incorporate my favourite elements of blogging into one place, from product reviews and outfit posts to my life as a Vancouverite and the new restaurants and places I discover here.
